Our Playtesting form is intended to allow playtesters to quickly organize their feedback, and to see what parts of a song need more attention. For authors, this system is designed to allow them to easily see which parts of their song are passing and which parts need more love.
Note that this page is not about Peer Review. That is a separate process with a much stricter set of questions. Peer Review is designed to approve or fail songs that should be ready for the general public. Playtesting is all about letting people try your song out and getting feedback.
After playing through a song, and returning to the song detail page, you will see a "Submit Feedback" link.
Clicking on this link will take you to a web form. This form will help you compose a post to the "comments" thread on the Playtest Songs forum ( http://creators.rockband.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40 ) where each song gets its own thread.
Along the top you will see an icon for each instrument. The icons will fill up as playtesters review that instrument, and mousing over each icon will give you a summary of how many people have given feedback. Each instrument, and a general section that covers animation and venue topics, has its own section.
If you click on one of the sections, it will expand to a series of simple questions, plus a text box for comments. Please include comments for each section you are providing feedback on. This is the only way that authors learn about what they need to do better, so your feedback here is vital. For each question, you can choose Lighter Hand ("YAY! It's great! There are no problems!") or Dead Zombie Hand ("Needs more work"). If you choose Zombie Hand you need to put in a comment describing what the problems are. The more specific the better.
You can choose to do as many sections as you want, but you must answer ALL the questions in each section that you review. After you are done with your review hit the blue "Submit Feedback" button at the bottom. At this point, a new forum post is generated and posted to the appropriate thread in the Playtest Songs Forum, that summarizes everything you just entered.
Now, when you go back to the Song Detail page, you will see a summary of all the Playtests that have been done so far. The large number is the total of positive votes, with the total votes underneath it. Right now, we have an arbitrary 50% threshold for positive votes, when the icon will change from a Dead Zombie Hand to a Lighter. We will probably tweak this as we get used to the system.
As an author, you can quickly check and see which parts of your song need more work. As a reviewer, you can see which parts of the song have gotten attention, and which need more review.
Thanks! And Happy Playtesting.
