Submission Standards
In order to successfully get your song approved via the Rock Band Network, it's important that you follow some basic guidelines as you submit your song. These steps will help your fellow creators properly review and comment on your song.
Informative Information
Your song will need to properly compile in order to upload to the site, but make sure that you correctly entered all the information about the song: Band Name, Song Name, etc. None of this can be changed after the song is approved, so double check and make sure you spelled everything right.
Next, enter an accurate description of the song on the upload page. People enjoy reviewing all different types of music, and if you describe it accurately you will have a good chance of finding creators who will help you polish your song.
It's OK to upload a song that isn't finished, but you should be very clear about what you want feedback on. If you only authored expert parts, make sure you mention it. If you haven't done any work on the venue track, make sure you mention that too, so that other creators don't spend time reviewing something that isn't done.
We have a lot of excellent information to help you create songs. The Common Authoring Mistakes checklist is a great place to start.
Playtest Your Songs
No song has ever been approved without some comments and revisions. No matter how good your song is it will benefit from some extra review by other passionate members of the community. Songs are automatically entered into Playtest the first time you upload them for this reason. Putting a song directly into Peer Review may cause it to fail.
Upload only finished work
Uploading unfinished work, or expecting the community to find and fix all your problems for you is disrespectful and wastes other creator's time. The participation of the creators is the most valuable asset that this program has. Creators who abuse this system by uploading multiple broken versions of their songs, or uploading very many versions with only slight changes, will be warned or banned from participating.
Playtest other songs
One of the best ways of giving back to the community, and learning a great deal about authoring at the same time, is to test other people's songs. Not only will you encourage them to try out your song, you may learn a great deal about how songs are authored, and improve your own creations.
